Grant Giving Update 2024: Reflecting on Our Achievements & Seeking Your Support
I am delighted to share with you the exciting developments the grant giving department has made in the last twelve months.
Dear Supporters,
I am delighted to share with you the exciting developments the grant giving department has made in the last twelve months. Your commitment and generosity towards National Waqf has enabled us to make a positive impact on our communities across the UK. Here’s a glimpse of what we’ve been up to.
Since June 2023, we have, Alhamdulillah, allocated a total of £153,750 in grants to various projects and initiatives. These funds have been distributed to a wide range of organisations that fit within our six cause areas of grant giving, each aimed at addressing key issues and developing long term sustainable change.

Key projects funded
Muslim Scouts Fellowship
Thousands of Muslim children benefit from MSF's work. National Waqf supported MSF with a grant to buy two vehicles, aiding staff transport and generating income through rentals.
New Beginnings
This organisation works with Muslim reverts, allowing them a safe space for them to start their journey as Muslims. New Beginnings provides educational resources as well as counselling and group therapy to new Muslims.
Spinney Hill Recovery
By the grace of Allah, we provided a grant to Spinney Hill, an organisation based in Leicester that provides support to Muslims suffering from alcohol and drug addiction. Our grant helped the organisation support several families affected and also set up a unique programme specifically to support Muslim women suffering from substance abuse.
Zubeda Welcome
We were able to assist the amazing work of Zubeda Welcome, which provides Islamic education for refugee children. Our grant allowed them to continue this vital service, which helps empower children who have been through traumatic experiences.
Muslim Friendly Employers
Thousands of Muslims across the UK provide their skills and experience and are vital to their employers. MFE works to ensure that the Islamic rights of these employees are catered for. The grant provided allowed the organisation to employ a member of staff who focused on developing relationships with several employers across the UK.
Sacred BMS
Alhamdulillah were able to provide a grant towards flagship research on ‘An Exploration of Abuse in Scottish Muslim communities’ as well as a number of community events aimed at cultivating mental and spiritual wellbeing.
Impact Story
One of the most rewarding aspects of our work is hearing from the beneficiaries of our grants. The following story highlights the different your support makes.
Ilyas* was a beneficiary of Spinney Hill Recovery. A married father of children, Ilyas had a cocaine addiction for more than 10 years and was in danger of losing his family. After referring himself to the Clinic, Ilyas went through rehab and a care plan was put in place for his continued recovery. By the grace of Allah ﷻ and through the hard work of the Spinney Hill staff and volunteers, Ilyas is now drug free, has a job with a railway company, and is reunited with his family.
